A hammock from Ecuador is a hammock like a hammock should be:

Comfortable, convenient, reliable. Timeless, strong;

In Ecuador the hammock production is concentrated in the Otavalo region, a small town in the Northern Andes highlands of Ecuador. The Indians from this region have been known for centuries for their weaving skills and until date the region is an important textile manufacturer. They are woven by the Otavalo indians in the North of Ecuador. An indian tribe famous for its weavers for over 500 years. With those hammocks you get a professional work of art from a weaving tradition of more than 500 years. OtavaleƱos are also good musicians and with their music and their textiles they travel around the world.

Ecuadorian hammocks are made from solid material as opposed to the open weave of Mexican hammocks. This solid material style hammock can be a great option for people with small children who may get their fingers into open weave hammocks.

SPREADER BAR HAMMOCK fabric is 160cm X 240cm (63" X 95") but the wood bar is only 120cm (47"). This makes for a very stable hammock compare to most spreader bar hammocks. They can hold up to 150kg (330lbs)

Hammocks from Ecuador are made from cotton and, for most of them, some acrylic. This is how they get some vivid colors and a colourfast fabric.

As for Mayan hammocks one has to lie diagonally at about a 30 degree angle to be comfortable. This is the way to have your back as straight as possible and this is why the width of the hammock matters most then the length.

It also have to make a nice curve (smile) to be able to use the full width of the hammock
Although they are machine washable we recommend to wash your hammock by hand to protect the suspension strings.
