About us
Every year since 2008 we spend many months in the Yucatan State with our weavers. We want to make sure that their hammocks are produced in an ethical manner.
Workers do not have to pay for the material they use. No children are working and they are therefore available to go to school. Weavers work 3 to 5 hours a day in their own home while caring for their kid. The team responsible for quality control and shipping work in a nice environment at a salary higher then those in large manufactures.
Our business model:
We are Canadians who felt in love with Mayan hammocks and their weavers. We have a goal to help these fantastic people by making their hammocks and hammock chairs available all over the world. To avoid double transportation costs we ship directly from our Meridas warehouse. This way we can offer you the best true Mayan hammock at a better price then what you can find in your own country, and tax free. Our commercial activities are internationally organized according to the customer's location. Each of our branches have gain over the years a very good reputation and you can trust us for all your hammock needs. We have many online store and we offer fast and free shipping.

CIELO hammocks are recognized by the Fair Trade Federation. We see our Hammocks as an instrument of change in the communities we serve. The Mayan communities of the Yucatan, where we strive to empowerindigenous mayan women and marginalized communities. We are not only having a tremendous impact on the artisans in our network but we are also offering great products to the public.

"Fair trade is an approach to business and to development based on dialogue, transparency, and respect that seeks to create greater equity in the international trading system."
